Just back from a delightful week on the East coast of Yorkshire, near Robin Hood’s Bay. Yorkshire is where I grew up and spent many childhood holidays walking on the moors. So many memories came rushing back; paddling in icy streams, fish and chips, cagoules and walking boots, the smell of seaweed and rusty diesel tractors, the wonderful sound of sea, wind and seagulls.
It took me a while to see the shapes and lines that interested me and then to keep my sketches simple; my collage papers kept blowing away and my hair whipped across my face. Now back in Cambridge I want to draw more of these urban/industrial/ports shapes so Felixstowe here I come!
